The Parthenon is a temple in Athens, Greece. The people of Athens dedicated this temple to the Greek goddess Athena. It was created in the 5th century BCE, started shortly after the Battle of Marathon. It was constructed on top of a limestone foundation that extended and leveled part of the Acropolis summit. The Parthenon's facade can be described as the golden rectangles, but this has been disputed in recent studies.
