Hokusai created this well-known color woodcut in 1831. In the painting, there are three boats engulfed in the waves. Tiny humans are being tossed around while the snow capped Mt. Fiji watches from a distance. I think the wave is forming a ying to the yang of the space underneath it.

The Great Wave… Hokusai
