
The Winged Victory of Samothrace (also known as the Nike of Samothrace) is a second century BCE sculpture of the Greek goddess of victory, Nike. It has been displayed at the Louvre since 1884 and is one of the most celebrated sculptures in the world. This sculpture was discovered in 1863 and is estimated to have been created in 190 BCE. It was created to honor a sea battle and conveys a sense of action and triumph.
