Rabbit for Dinner Chia
Sandro Chia was born in Florence in 1946. He is an Italian painter and sculptor. Chia was a key member of the Italian Transavanguardia movement. The movement was at its peak during the 1980s and was part of a wider movement of Neo-Expressionist painters around the world. Neo-Expressionist painters portrayed recognizable objects, as opposed to completely abstract works, in a rough and violently emotional way using vivid colors. In Rabbit for Dinner, one can see a hunter with a light gettin' supper. The candle that he is holding dictates the rest of the painting.
