Ingres Odalisque

Odalisque is an oil painting finished in 1814 by Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres. It depicts a odalisque, or concubine. This painting attracted a lot of criticism when it was first shown. The paintings itself has elongated proportions and a lack of anatomical realism. It can be found in the Louvre in Paris. Ingres was seen as a rebel against contemporary style of form and content. It was not appreciated that Ingres disregarded anatomical realism.
