Bronzino Venus and Cupid

Venus and Cupid is an oil painting created in 1545. This painting displays the ambivalence, eroticism, and obscure imagery which is characteristic of the period. The foreground is almost claustrophobic. The identities of the subjects have created much scholarly debate. One of the many themes of this painting could possibly be jealousy.
