Flower Still Life Ruysch

A more detailed look at the Flower Still Life reveals a host of insects, beetles, little flies, a caterpillar. They add a feeling of motion to this static still life. Rachel Ruysch made this flower painting in 1716. Rachel Ruysch's father was a famous artist and botanist.Ruysch was the most famous of the female artists of her time and one of the most successful painters of still lifes.
