White Temple and Ziggurat

The Sumerian White Temple at Ur, built around 2100 BC was 150 by 200 feet and 75 feet high. The temple platforms are called ziggurats, a word that comes from the Assyrian "high." They were symbols in themselves. This ziggurat was designed with trees on top to make the temple seem like a mountain. The ziggurat was one of the world's first great architectural structures.
