The Tell Asmar sculpture "hoard" is a collection of 12 effigy statues. It was discovered at the Mesopotamian site of Tell Asmar in the 1930s. They were stacked in several layers within a hole about 4 feet below the floor of a temple. The statues themselves are on average about 42 centimeters tall. They are of men and women with large eyes, clasped hands, dressed in the skirts of the their time. They are believed to represent gods and goddess and their worshipers.
