James Turrell is an artist primarily concerned with light and space. The Roden Crater is what is left of an extinct volcano. It is located in Flagstaff, Arizona. Turrell has since been transforming the inner cone of the crater into a massive naked-eye observatory, designed specifically for viewing and experiencing sky-light, solar, and celestial phenomena. The fleeting Winter and Summer equinox events will be highlighted. It is, obviously, a work in progress.
