The Moschophoros (calf-bearer)

The Moschophoros (calf-bearer) is an Archaic statue of a bearded man carrying a calf on his shoulders. The large, deep-set eyes were made out of colored stones, which are now missing, to render the glance more lively. According to the inscription on the base, it was completed in 570 BCE.
