Albert Bierstadt lived from 1830 until 1902. He is best known for his landscapes of the unsettled west. He was born in Germany and was two years old when his family emigrated to America and settled in Massachusetts. Among the Sierra Nevada Mountains is a great example of the unsettled west. I wonder if any part of the US looks so serene and natural anymore. If it does, I'm sure there are tons of people lining up to take pictures of it with their iPhones.
